Phew! The first day of spring semester is over and done with. I started it with a lovely 8 a.m. art studio class and ended it with sprints on the hardwood. That's life right now. To tell you the truth, I've been up here all Christmas break. I play basketball here for Clarion University which earns me the privilege of holding down the fort here at Clarion while the rest of my fellow classmates journey on home for a month. Now, its not so bad. I don't want you feeling bad for me, by any means. Basketball, as hard and as time consuming as it is, it is getting me through college. It basically keeps me going, of course, along with other important motivators I carry.
Its always an interesting feeling on campus the first day back. Walking around, you can tell who's excited to be back with their book bags already full and who can't believe they are back dragging into class still in their pajamas. There is always a good mix, however, I'm a "tweener" you could say. I can't say I'm totally bummed to be back, but I can't say I'm totally thrilled either. I love going back into my classes and sitting next to the friends I haven't seen in a month. We just pick up where we left off, giving each other a hard time and finding a way to get through what sometimes seems like the longest fifty minutes of our lives or two and a half hours depending on the class. Regardless, we survive.
Don't get the wrong idea, if I didn't enjoy learning about new things, I wouldn't be in college. I will complain about the work or the length of the class, but in the long run it will pay off. In the long run, I'll probably wish I was right back here where all the knowledge in the world is in front of me if I would just take that step and grab it. So here comes my fourth semester here at Clarion, I say, bring it on. I have gotten through three of them, what's a few more. This one is starting off pretty good, setting aside the fact that I have only been to half of the classes, its a good feel. I'm actually pretty excited for my art classes. That's my major by the way. Now don't go assuming that I prance around in dark black clothes or mismatching ones. My coach won't let me. No, I'm just kidding! There's more to art than the crazy stereotypes that are thrown out there. I, myself, am an aspiring graphic designer. I love it. I could work through projects all day. I figured, if I'm going to work the rest of my life, why not be happy doing it? Why not pick something I love? I'm just one of those blessed people to find it so early. So every semester I see it as one more step closer to that dream.
Well its off to bed, more classes tomorrow, and more dreams to chase.
Until next time...
Thanks for stopping by.
